MySpace becomes the most popular U.S. Web site
In a recent blog entry, a web tracking firm Hitwise has made the claim that MySpace.com moved into # 1 position for most visited U.S sites. MySpace, which offers interactive networks of blogs, user groups, photos and email on the Web, has outpaced top-rated Yahoo E-mail and Google Search, accounting for 4.5 percent of all U.S. Internet visits for the week ending July 8th 2006. It was reported that MySpace achieved 4300% increase in visits over two years and 132% increase since the same time last year. Although one could easily argue that it is not accurate to compare MySpace to only one of Yahoo’s networking domains (E-mail), the findings show once more the ever growing importance of social media in general.
